I have been on eBay for 16 years and every year it gets worse. As a seller I get the impression they own me they tell me when I can sit or stand. They also seem like con artist with there policy changes. But the latest is the drop in sales big time and the amount of people that visit. I use to put Knoll chairs up for auction, by the end of the auction there would be over 1500 views and around 100 watchers and a set of four would sell for 1500 to 1700 in good condition with labels . A few days ago I had a set sell for 405.00 and only 200 views and 18 watchers pretty sad. I go on there site and search mid century modern furniture and look at competed item all you see everything gets passed no sale.
This is the last straw for me after 16 years I am selling by other
means now. Also with the growing non paying bidders and fraudulent
bidders and eBay with there attitude the customer is always right even
if the customer is pulling a scam like non payment and phishing tactics.
Please tell your story so future sellers will know what they are
getting into.
Bad story with nutty person on eBay 9/15/2016
This is one of many. I had someone questioning me about chairs I had up for auction if they really where rosewood. I explained they where rosewood and sent him to a website that shows many examples of all the varieties of rosewood. He came back and said they are not rosewood. Well I tried to explain I have been making and designing furniture in exotic woods for twenty years and I know that they are rosewood. He came back in an email and said “ I will buy the chairs come and pick them up and beat your parents to death with the chairs”. Wow I reported this to eBay and it was in black and white. eBay said they do not tolerate that behavior. But the nutty person was still on eBay and bidding. I said to my wife knowing eBay they probably gave the guy a gift certificate. Just kidding around with my wife. But who needs to deal with that. And I have many more of these stories that I will posting. If you have a story let me hear yours.
